Geoarbitrage

Geoarbitrage is a term used to describe the practice of taking advantage of differences in cost of living, taxes, and other economic factors between different geographic locations. It’s a strategy often used by digital nomads, remote workers, and entrepreneurs who are able to work remotely and live anywhere in the world. The idea behind geoarbitrage is to live in a place where the cost of living is lower while earning money in a place where the earning potential is higher. This allows individuals to save money and increase their purchasing power while still maintaining their standard of living.

For example, someone living in a high-cost city in the United States, like San Francisco or New York, might choose to move to a low-cost location, such as Thailand or Mexico, where they can live comfortably for a fraction of the cost. They would then work remotely, earning money in U.S. dollars while living in a place where their cost of living is much lower. This can allow them to save money, invest in other opportunities, or simply increase their standard of living.

Geoarbitrage can also be used by entrepreneurs and small business owners who can take advantage of lower labor costs, taxes, and other incentives in other countries while still maintaining access to global markets and customers. Much like entrepreneurship exploits the gap between supply and demand to extract or create value, geoarbitrage exploits gaps between income and cost of living for financial benefit.
