KEY TERM

Slomads

Slomad is a term used to describe a digital nomad who has slowed down their travel pace and chooses to stay in one place for a longer period of time. It's a portmanteau of "slow" and "nomad." This slower pace of travel can be due to various reasons, such as the need to rest, focus on a specific project or work commitment, personal reasons, or even the current global situation.

Slomads may choose to stay in one place for several months or even years, and they may rent a place or purchase a property to have a more stable base. They may also choose to stay in one place to be closer to family and friends or to take advantage of the local culture and lifestyle.

It's worth noting that slomad is not a fixed status or definition, as many digital nomads may switch between slomad and digital expat status depending on their personal and professional circumstances.
