Digital Expat

A digital expat describes someone similar to a digital nomad, but instead of traveling around the world long-term, they move to another country for an extended period of time, usually a few months to a few years.

A digital expat is different from a traditional expat, or expatriate, who is typically an employee of a company that has sent them to work in another country for a specific period of time. A digital expat is not tied to one specific employer and can work for multiple clients or companies.

The lifestyle of a digital expat is characterized by an emphasis on location independence and the ability to work from anywhere. They often choose to move to another country for a change of lifestyle, to experience a different culture, or to take advantage of a lower cost of living.
